Just bought a JD 4400 with a 48 hoe. How can I tell if I am getting all the power out of the hoe? Rented the exact same thing before I bought and my feeling is I am not getting the same power out of it. Any test I can do?

Sparky, The best way to check the hoe is to connect a pressure gauge into the circuit you feel is weak. If you call your dealer, they should be able to tell you the relief pressure setting. You might have a defective relief valve. ....

Yep. I agree completely. If you are getting the rated pressure and the cylinders are the same diameter then I can't think of any way that the force could be different.
Hmm....no sooner did I say that then I recall that on my own tractor I've got the relief valve "fudged" by a couple hundred psi. :-) I can't see a rental yard doing that though. Mine was an old 1250 psi system that I've bumped up to 1500 psi to take advantage of the extra power. It also has new pressure parts at key places.
